’twas the night before New Year’s, and all the through the house, all the creatures were ready to party, and there was STILL no sign of my spouse!
The children were nestled all snug under the tree, while making party favors for Thing One, Thing Two, The Boy and Mini-me!
With Daddy stuck in the office, and me feeling a little beat, I decided to ignore the dishes and annoy the Old Man with my NEW fuzzy feet!
When behind all the gafawing, posing, and pawing, there arose such a clatter, I sprung with much dread, to see what was the matter…NOW?!?!
Away to the living room, I flew like a flash, tore open the Motrin, ready to knock Thing One’s temp back on its ash (shuddup!)
Nay, ’twas only the laundry piled sky high, I fear, with a quake did finally fall and NAY, did I care!
But, Thing One and The Boy, were watching a flick, who, too, were NOT feeling very lively, or quick.
A wink of Mini-me’s eye, and with a party hat on her head, said “YAY…Daddy’s home…it’s time for game night, Momma!”
[heavy sigh]
Well, soon gave me to know, there WAS, perhaps, nothing to dread.
Yes, it was just another quiet Auld Lang Syne – at This Full House of dried-out markers and broken crayons – with reflections of peace, love and hope, and that suits us just fine!
