Blog

  • Martha Stewart does NOT live here – but, I read her blog and she probably won’t remember me, either!

I almost didn’t make it to the toilet, this morning (yeah, I do that a lot) and so I slammed the door sort of…you know…like, what I tell the kids NOT to do (ditto) and a piece of wall paper, literally, jumped up and tore away from the bathroom wall.

"I bet Martha Stewart NEVER did that!!!"

Besides putting up wallpaper in a bathroom, I mean (I know, what WAS I thinking?) so, I sat there (because, I had a minute, or two left in me) and I started looking around.

    UGH!

Definitely not a good thing to do – especially, with the Martha Stewart Show starting up its new season on September 15th (that’s Monday) when something supposedly is gonna happen (I dunno, it’s supposed to be BIG) and you’ve got tickets to the September 17th show about bloggers.

  • 9/11: A Remembrance in Film

From chaos to community – we all lived it – no longer strangers, we
still grieve together and our views of New York just haven’t been the same,
    since.

    Especially, from here in Jersey.

I can’t believe that it’s been 7 years, but I do remember how terribly
frightened I was — living just across the bay from the World Trade
Center in New York City — with my two oldest already in elementary
school and me home, alone, with a toddler and a 2 month old.

Honestly, do I really want to remember?

I learned about Snag Films, while looking for links to share for this month’s column on the Imperfect Parent, and was totally blown away by their first annual September 11th Remembrance in Film.

There are five documentary films slated, featuring the critically acclaimed 7 Days in September, the films will be available in their entirety, without commercial interruption, at both www.snagfilms.com and www.indiewire.com between today and September 12th, 2008.

I ask that you take a moment, sometime today, to watch this 90-minute
film and I promise, you WILL remember that – although, we may run in
different circles – the kindness and compassion of the human heart knows no
    boundaries.

    Peace to you, my friends.

  • Shaking It Up On the Soccer Field of Good and Evil

    Thisfullhousesoccer

Mini-me (on far left, wearing red) at her soccer team’s first practice, last night.

Does your kid play soccer?  Baseball?  Football?  How about basketball, hockey or softball?  Yes?

    [nods head]

Perhaps, you’ve even coached a team, or two.

Like, my kids’ coaches (two of them are playing soccer, this year) who volunteer their time, year after year, one season into the next and sometimes more than one sports, at a time.

    PHEW.

Don’t get me wrong, my husband would love to coach, but Garth (not his real name) gets home really late and sometimes is scheduled to work three weekends out of the month.

Me?  Well, as I see it, teaching kids sports means a) one would need to know a little something about that particular sport and b) being able to physically, you know, do it.

I mean, giving birth to 4 babies, I can’t do a jumping jack, or sneeze, without having certain parts of my body begin to leak (you’re welcome) sometimes, all at once (I’m sure) besides, my uterus might fall out, or something.

    Still.

Some of these guys are diehard dedicated to involving themselves in nearly every aspect of their children’s lives and I can’t help but think, you know, what kind of day job allows these people ALL that free time?

  • Wordless Wednesday: One Down, Three to Go

    Seeya_2

The rest of my kids watch, as their big sister walks off to begin her freshman year in high school, and I can’t help but feel like it’s the first day of preschool…all over again.

Nuh-uh, it most definitely does NOT get any easier.

Also, I’m blogging over at Our BlubHer Overhaul — a diet and exercise support blog and brainchild of Karly (a.k.a. Wiping up Snot) and Mrs. Schmitty  — as I lament, Wading at the Shallow End of 40-Something.

  • Mommy’s Little Eye Candy – OH, Canada!

    Thisfullhouseeyecandy_2

A few years ago — long before Twitter and SEO’s ruled the Internets — someone came up with MILF and I thought…ICK!…and then I had this idea of hosting a weekly series of photos and blog posts targeted towards more frazzled-out and frustrated moms, like me.

Then, with just one click, I blew up my blog and lost 2 years of eye candy!

[bows head in a moment of silence]

I think it’s about time we resurrect some good old-fashioned mommy porn of our own; hopefully, translating it as NOT having to feel guilty about wanting to stay in bed and pulling the covers over your head, or worry about how you should probably be doing something a little more, you know, constructive instead.

Like, food shopping, doing laundry, or something.

    Riiiiight.

    I don’t think so!

  • A Letter to the Next President of the United States

    Dear Mr. President,

I know you’re busy.  You’ve worked very hard, traveled many miles, remained sleepless for a ridiculous amount of hours and heard millions of voices asking you to remember them in your considerations as the next President of the United States.

As a mom of 4 children, I feel it safe to say…it’s about to get worse.

  • Sleep Is for the Weak: A quick peek into the Momosphere.

    Sleepisfortheweak_5

Speedy Synopsis:  The best of the mommybloggers including Amalah, Finslippy, Fussy, Woulda Coulda Shoulda, Mom-101 and more!

One of the reasons I enjoy blogging, so much — besides, the flexible hours and
the fringe benefits of hanging out in my pajamas and having unlimited
access to the delete button — is the extreme sense of community and respect we share, for each other.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could take a piece of the blogosphere and
wrap it up in a tidy little book, to take with us, in real life?

Take a quick peek into "Sleep Is for the Weak," here!

Also, I’ve got a post up at the SV Moms Blog Group, fresh from the Garden State:

New Jersey and You, Imperfect Together!

Now, we return back to our regularly-scheduled…HOLY CRAP!…it’s already Wednesday and what do you mean only 7 more sleeps until school starts?

If anyone needs me, I’ll be spending the rest of the week mourning the fact that my first born baby girl is old enough to go to high school…SOB!…and hitting the clearance racks…HARD!

  • This Full House est. 1990

    Thisfullhouseaisledash

August 25, 1990 – the year of the big dress and Cinderella Poof

I think Dennis Miller (who ALSO happens to look a lot like Garth, not his real name) said it best:

"After 7 years of marriage, I am sure of 2 things.  First, never
wallpaper together and second, you’ll need 2 bathrooms…both for her.
The rest is a mystery, but a mystery I love to be involved in."

After 18 years, 4 kids, 2 cats, 1 sock-eating Doofus-dog and tons of laundry later, I’m STILL waiting for a bathroom.

    [heavy sigh]

Because, I love you THAT MUCH!
