  • Mommyfest: An Interactive Online Event for Moms!

Being a mom is hard – although, I also believe that my husband Garth (not his real name) could really use a day off, or two – but, blogging about raising kids and killer dust bunnies makes life seem…I dunno… a lot more…you know…livable.

Especially, when you get to invite your friends over to your place, meet a couple hundred-or-so moms, listen to some really great speakers and you don’t even have to take a shower, clean the house, get dressed, or anything…if you don’t want to.

Did I mention there will be contests and a bunch of free stuff to choose from?

  • Mommy Blog Carnival: Tax Day Comic Relief Edition

    Mommyblogcarnival_3

Well, hello there and welcome to the April 15, 2008 edition of the Mommy Blog Carnival!

    What?

Oh yeah, it’s Tax Day and…OOOOOOOH…the horror.  If you haven’t finished filing your taxes, yet…take a deep breath…and remember to just…you know…breathe, or think about what all the poor IRS and postal employees must be going through, right about now.

    [moment of silence]

I thought I would kick-off this week’s carnival with intros from a few of my most favorite funny women and invite you to share in a little comic relief on Tax Day, as Uncle Sam mixes it up with the Mommybloggers!

  • Hip Hop and Lemon Drops

Having a fabulously fun time here in Camp Baby (wink, wink, a totally great blog hunt clue) but, am more tired than a pig in a poke – man, I’m hanging with Ninja Poodles and drinking waaaaay too many lemon drops!  Evidenced by photo ops, here.

Will blog all about it when I get back home and only after spending a wonderful weekend with another dear blogging friend of mine, Dana.

Yep, I’m picking up momma de la Dana Files at the train station and we’re having a good old-fashioned mommy sleepover; complete with lots of popcorn, ice cream, sticky treats from the boardwalk and perhaps some hair braiding will be involved, even!

A virtual Camp Mommy, if you will.

In the meantime, feel free to check out our family review on the Hip Hop Harry DVD – Move Those Feet!

Have a great weekend and if anyone needs me, I’ll be snuggled on the couch next to Dana…asleep.

  • Tuesday Toot: Serving up a piece of fierce, today!

The idea behind Marie’s meme is that, every Tuesday,  moms should get the chance to "toot our own horns" (for once) and celebrate each others achievements.

    Ready?

Okay — although, I’m NOT very good at accepting praise [cough-cough] here it goes — I’m about to be thrown into a room with 56 other mom bloggers and I have decided to leave my husband’s balls, at home!

  • Love Thursday: Smile, you’re on candid karma!

    Sugarhigh

This is a perfect example of why Mini-me was voted "Most Likely to Make You Smile" in our family!

I was taught, very early in life, that having children will perhaps be one of the most important things that I will ever accomplish in life.  Great.  Probably the reason why I dreaded it so and, though I happen to believe I’m a very good mom, is it enough to guarantee happiness?

  • Picture Perfect Thursday: We Break for Spring, Sort Of!

    Fullhousewinter07_2

How about a little more winter, to go with your first day of Spring?

I know, I know – a lot of my blogging friends were hit pretty hard, this year – but, the kids and I were talking late last night (because, I was still awake) and figured out we only had two days of snow.  When it actually, you know, stuck to the ground.  Also, with only one snow day off, that…YES!…they would probably get out of school early, this year.

Sort of makes having only a 3-day spring break seem that much more…STUPID!

  • Foodie Tuesday: Lemon Parsnipity Chicken

    Lemony_parsnipity_chicken

I have this friend – YES, she knows I’m a Dork – who takes it upon herself to remind my
children, to remind me, not to forget…you know…things I just don’t remember, anymore.  Like, the days when they should NOT be going to school…like, Thursday…and Friday…Monday, too…I think.  Well, because there isn’t
any school, and they’d be the ONLY ones there and other
    stuff, like that.

So, where am I going with this…um…give me a moment…oh, yeah…I’m joining another friend Christina of A Mommy Story in getting healthy before my trip to BlogHerConSanFran, in July.

Or, as Christina so valiantly refers to it as, "Hot By BlogHer."

Alas, my "hawt" days are numbered — the kids saw to that years ago and never-you-mind-just-how-old-I-am, anyways — but, that doesn’t mean I can’t feel good about the way I look.  Right?

    Riiiiiight.

So, I’ve committed myself to walking the Doofus-dog (twice a day) and actually using the gift certificates, that my favorite sister-in-law gave me at Christmas, to join the pilates class at her gym

Every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. – pray for me – and please, do NOT make me the first one to HAVE to, you know, pass gas!

Oh, and before I forget, I’ve been tapping into my cooking roots and coming up with some pretty neat and simple recipes that even the kids like.  So, I thought perhaps I should start writing them down and…HEY!…why not share them with you?  Every Tuesday.  So, I don’t forget.

Please excuse the Rachel Ray-ish type measuring of ingredients.

Today’s recipe – Lemon Parsnipity Chicken:

  • Red, White and Blue Friday #7 – You’re a grand old complex and contentious flag!

    Fullhouseflaginwinter

There’s a company that manufactures American flags not too far from us – in fact, it is the landmark right before the exit lane I should be taking towards the beach – and it’s sort of hard to miss the eleventy-hundred flags flapping in the breeze.

Perhaps some people would find it difficult to see the patriotism in that – especially, since the company makes flags – but, I know that it would be hard to deny that the company is probably just following through with some pretty heavy duty advertisement.

What would you say if I told you that NOT all American flags are made, you know, in America?
