  • Holy Hannah Montana, Batman – You’ve Been Ghosted!

Okay, so I was JUST able to get the Halloween decorations up, like, yesterday (I’ve been sorta, you know, busy) and today, well, there’s a film crew coming over (I kid you NOT!) in, like, an hour and I still need to take a shower.
What?  At least, my kids are clean!

    Thisfullhouseghosted

    Let’s play!

I created this blogging meme a couple of years ago and had a lot of
fun with it. It’s time time we all tapped into our inner-child and go
    and ghost someone!

    The rules are easy:

    (1)  It’s your turn to "ghost" three other bloggers.

    (2)  Stop by their blogs and leave a comment on their latest post
saying, "You’ve Just Been Ghosted — Come Over and Grab A Puking
    Pumpkin!"

    (3)  Copy and paste the puking pumpkin somewhere on your blog
(either in a post or on your sidebar, perhaps) so that everyone can see
that you have been "ghosted" and will NOT "ghost" you again.  This will
also let you know who you can "ghost."

    (4)  Feel free to link to this post (or a post of your own) for
directions, grab the puking pumpkin and go "ghost" 3 bloggers on your
sidebar (preferably, somewhere you haven’t commented in a while, or a
blog you’ve NEVER commented on before and/or new to the blogosphere)
and dont’ be afraid to share some linky love.

It will be fun to see how many "puking pumpkins" appear in the blogosphere by Halloween!

    Okay?

I’ll start – my mother, punched your mother right in the nose, what
    color blood…no, wait…that’s not right – I’m going over to ghost 3
    bloggers:

Scribbit – Because, she’s busy and probably needs a break, too!

FireMom – Because, Jenna has a cold and needs a warm fuzzy!

JayMonster – Because, he’s sooooooo serious (all the time) and could probably use a puking pumpkin!

Don’t have the time – no worries – at least, I’ve got a pumpkin up, somewhere, since, we never DID get the time to go and, you know, get one!

    [hangs head low]

So, do you know anyone who could use a puking pumpkin?

  • Flip-Worthy Moments: If You Give a Mom a Camera

    Today’s public service announcement?

Watch as an average, every day soccer mom attempts to vanquish boredom by explaining the meaning of the acronym, "SAHM" or, at least, tries to, anyways.

Warning:  It was the end of the day and, being already photogenically challenged, it probably doesn’t help that I am NOT even wearing any lipstick!

    Go in peace.

  • Glamour Reel Moments: Just Another Mom’s View from the Red Carpet! – Day 2

    Lizafraidofhollywoodheights

See what happens, when Mom Bloggers hit Hollywood – be afraid, be very, very afraid!

Suave invited me to attend the 2008 Glamour Reel Moments film festival, last week (I do NOT know how that happened, either) hosted by Glamour Magazine.  You see, the magazine holds a
contest (three years, now) where readers submit their stories and
    then famous actresses pick their
favorite idea and make it into a short film.

Day 1 was fun – seriously, I love meeting new blogging buddies – but, it was Day 2 that really brought us together, some for the first time, as bloggers hit the red carpet!

Click over to my review blog and I’ll tell you what everyone was wearing – with pictures, even!

  • Glamour Reel Moments: When Bloggers Unite – Day 1

Suave invited me to attend the 2008 Glamour Reel Moments film festival, this week (I do NOT know how that happened, either) hosted by Glamour Magazine.  You see, the magazine holds a
contest (three years, now) where readers submit their stories and
    then famous actresses pick their
favorite idea and make it into a short film.

    Why?

There’s a shortage of women directors in Hollywood (I know, act surprised anyway) and Kirsten Dunst, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson,
Rita Wilson and Gwyneth Paltrow have all made their directorial debuts
with Glamour Reel Moments, which helps promote women in film.

    This year?

Glamour Reel Moments is sponsored by Suave and I just love their current ad campaign (have you seen this commercial, yet?) and it’s pretty clear that Suave is committed to helping mothers feel pretty, all over again!

I’m pretty sure it IS the reason they asked ME, anyway.

    [smiles and breaks camera, again]

  • When A Mommyblogger Goes Hollywood, Puke Happens, No Doubt!

Remember when I told you about how excited I am to have been invited to this really cool thing in Hollywood (yeah, like, in 3,000 bazillion miles away from Jersey) and then the little black dress that my dear sweet husband ordered me didn’t fit (stupid breasts, dumb leftover baby bumps!) but, then I found an even prettier dress that actually fit "a real woman" with, you know, bumps and boobs, for under $100 and one that even a plain-old Jersey mom (like
me) could wear to a swanky-like Hollywood event and STILL feel pretty!?!?

    [takes deep breath]

Well, I’m leaving in about 12 hours…of course, I’m still NOT packed…oh, and HOLY CRAP!…I don’t remember being THIS nervous (or, sad) about going to BlogHer!

    [exhales]

  • The Sisterhood of Our BlubHer Overhaul

Looking over my publishing calendar (I know, I know, what’s a mommy like me doing writing about important stuff, anyway?) I can’t believe that I never blogged about this.

I mean, there’s this cute little button publishing on my sidebar for weeks that leads to Our BlubHer Overhaul.

    What?

A few of us gals decided to get together and do a bloggy support group for
weight loss.  Each of us has our own agenda – mine is to feel more confident about myself and look a little less like, you know, a deer in headlights at BlogHer 2009 – but, we are united in our support and acceptance of each other, even when it seems like the rest of the world is, you know, wearing skinny jeans.

For example, admitting to my adult dressing room disorder (ADRD) and then finding the perfect little black dress that even a mom (like me) can wear.

  • Motherhood may not always be beautiful, sometimes it’s pretty freakin’ GLAMOROUS!

[10/20/08:  Wanna read all about my adventures in Hollywood?   Visit, Glamour Reel Moments:  When Mom Bloggers Unite – Day 1 and Just Another Mom’s View From the Red Carpet – Day 2]

Funny thing, motherhood is.  There are times when it comes easily.  Simple little moments of joy and peace that goes along with nurturing a family I have spent nearly all of my childhood dreaming of.  Then there are days when I’m, literally, tearing my hair out and desperately searching for the nearest exit.

First, there was the thing with my dad (his recovery is going well, thank goodness!) then my eye doctor found something "funky" show up on a couple of tests.

"It could be nothing, or it could be serious."

Okay, being a glass is half-full kind of gal, I’m thinking…nothing…and then he goes and makes an "emergency appointment" with a specialist, the next day.

"But, serious would be, you know, really, really bad."

Then, walking around and pretending like it’s nothing.

"It’s NOT serious, just let me write down a couple of notes and then I’ll tell you why."

A-a-aand then, spending the next couple of minutes, thanking your lucky stars and thinking of a thousand ways you could have done things better.

Last week, in a nutshell, totally nutty!

A-a-aand, just when I thought things couldn’t get, you know, any worse…well…something pretty freakin’ AWESOME happens (oh, I dunno, like being invited to Hollywood) and I just hope I don’t puke ALL over Scribbit’s new red leather peep toe platform pumps!

  • Junior Chefs of America: A cooking show Q&A session with real kids, too!

    Jrchefsofamerica_2

Meet the Jr. Chefs of America on Good Morning America (9/24) and as they participate in a Q&A session with my kids!

Growing up with Hungarian parents, I was one of the few kids in school who knew how to cook, or was used to eating, what other families typically threw away – like, eating the marrow out of soup bones – ironically, our "peasant-style" cooking is what most chefs would consider as delicacies, today.

    My kids, not so much.

Frankly, if it’s not microwavable, served on anything but white bread, or covered in cheese, they probably won’t eat it.

    UGH!

Yeah, I’m afraid that giving in to picky-eater-syndrome has taken it’s toll and, just once, my husband and I would love for them to sit down and actually enjoy ONE meal, together!

So, every Friday, I’m making the kids cook US dinner.
