  • Lemonade Award: When life hands you lemons, squirt them in people’s…no, wait…that’s not it!

Lemonade AwardGrammy Janet's Place nominated me for the The Lemonade Award.  She must have seen this week's vlog (video blog) and I guess it was sort of like watching someone eat lemons.  I kid.  Sort of.  I am, however, truly honored.

    Why?

It is given as appreciation for those people who have shown a great attitude or gratitude this week.

Okay, my turn.  How-eh-vuh, I am pumping up the sweetness factor (believing that's it's okay to exploit a child's cuteness, whenever possible) and enlisting the aid of my youngest daughter, Mini-me (she's 7) to present The Lemonade Award to the following people:

Feel like sharin' — the award, not my kid — not a problem, all you have to do is:

    1. Put the logo on your blog or post.

    2. Nominate at least 10 blogs, which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude! Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.

    3. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.

    4. Share the love and link to this post and to the person from whom you received your award.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to poke Jamie, MamaLoves, Dana, Jenn, Victoria, Mrs. Schmitty, BusyMom, Katespot, HelloDollFace and Deb (like, they have nothing better to do) then, clean my house (because, Kate is coming over on Monday…YAY!) oh, and brag on my kid…a little more.

Please, clean off a chair and stay a while, feel free to visit our Open House Blog Tour and leave your link, so we can peek into your blog and see what's hiding under your couch cushions!

Thanks, Grammy Janet, you made me smile today!

  • Open House Blog Tour: 1st Showing

    This-full-house-open-house-blog-tour

My husband, Garth (not his real name) and I love attending open houses — especially, if it's a home that we've admired, or wondered…you know…what it looks like inside — even though we are by no means in the position to buy a new house, which perhaps goes against exhibiting proper open house etiquette, I guess.

Still, it's a great way to get new decorating ideas.  Sort of like window shopping and seeing exactly what the product looks like, or how it's used, in a real house.

Maybe, I will buy that really cool thing-a-muh-jiggy, after all.

So, I said to myslef…SELF!…wouldn't it be nice if there was a way we could all go visit each others blogs and check out what's hiding under those couch cushions, anyway!?!?

Welcome to the Open House Blog Tour (also, running on my review blog) where everyone (and anyone) is free to come and leave links (PG-13, please) telling us about your individual blogging events, fundraisers, giveaways, book tours,
contests, or if you just need a shout out, go for it…I'm listening!

I mean, who couldn't use a little linky love?

Comment (or, don't if you don't feel like it) but, make sure you leave a link in the Mr. Linky fields below along with a short description of the event.

It's running on both of my blogs, DOUBLE THE LINKS, because I roll like that.

And if you forget…don't worry…it'll be here every Thursday...linked permanently in my archives and sidebar (see left) so, if you happen to stop by whenever, you can leave your link then and let me know where I can mail the check!

    Feel free to share.

  • Clean off a chair and make yourself at home!

Me and Steve Hungary 1966I come from a long line of storytellers.

My twin brother and I grew up listening to many colorful tales of far away places, long lost regrets and “those crazy relatives” from overseas (that’s us, over there, during our first visit to Hungary at age 2) so, blogging came very naturally for me.

I started blogging at This Full House in 2003 (when blogging was still in diapers) to connect with other parents, share stories and perhaps help each other feel a little less disconnected with life, beyond all the dust bunnies and diapers.

I expanded my reach in 2007 to include working with brands in sharing information that perhaps helps make life for larger families (like mine) a little easier.

I have also partnered with brands (Eggland’s Best, K-mart, Kellogg’s, Hallmark, Hershey’s, PBS Kids, Taste of Home Magazine) by providing engaging editorial content to help them connect with REAL families (like mine) both online and IRL.

This Full House is a charter member of the BlogHer Ad Network, listed on Alltop.com and chosen as one of the inaugural Babble’s 50 Best Mommybloggers. I have also submitted articles as a columnist for The Imperfect Parent, Kmart’s PlaydatePlace.com, Together Counts Blog and as a contributing editor at BlogHer.

My kids are all grown (whut?!?!) and they frequently visit this blog to settle an argument about something that happened, and/or to confirm when that something actually happened, and/or if that something actually happened like they remembered it: This Full House is now our family’s timeline.

I am very proud to continue my work in helping to promote our online community I’ve grown to love AND adopt as family.

Because…with 3 out of 4 kids still living in the house…what’s one more, right?!?! Feel free to visit back with us…anytime…we’ll leave the porch light on for yuhs, just in case!

  • New Jersey Mom Blog Launch Party – The Recap!

    Newjerseymomsblogpartybrochure_4
As most of you may (or, may not) know, I am a Jersey Girl (born and raised, bay-bee) and I feel very honored to be able to contribute to the Silicon Valley Moms Group of blogs for the, you guessed, New Jersey Moms Blog.

New Jersey Moms Blog launched in March of 2008 (in fact, mine was the  inaugural post, "So, You From Joisey?) but, you can read more about us, here!

I had the extreme pleasure (along with my friend, Vanessa) of organizing the New Jersey Moms Blog Launch Party (that’s a copy of the program and, YAH, I made it!) sponsored by Graco and very graciously hosted by Gold Medal Impressions Gallery (Hi, Mr. Druckman!) in lovely Princeton Junction, New Jersey!

No easy task (right, Vanessa?) because, there’s like so many of us and New Jersey is, you know, really, really big.

Bet you didn’t know that, huh?

Seriously, we’re talking about a 200 mile radius (from north to south) and then there’s all those lakes, hills and farmlands jammed in between.

Who knew, it would rain like a BITCH!?!?

  • Book Club Time: SV Moms Group Discussion – The White Trash Mom Handbook

    Whitetrashmom_2

I had the pleasure of working alongside authors Michelle Lamar and Molly Wendland with Disney’s Family.com, so I was very excited to have finally had the chance to meet them both, in person, at the BlogHerCon ’08.

Michelle made me snort Appletinis through my nose, ‘nuf said!

Then, I got a copy of their book and was honored to be included in the White Trash Mom campaign for the Parent Bloggers Network.

    Ain’t nothing trashy about it.

Taken with a sense of humor, The White Trash Mom Handbook is a
refreshing respite to anyone who’s ever battled with baking from
scratch, or felt guilty for not signing up for the class trip, or taken
to screening your calls, even though you are a stay-at-home mom and
probably could have arranged [cough, cough] to be available.

    [raises hand]

Please, clean off a chair and stay a while, feel free read my review:  The White Trash Mom Handbook – She’s less than perfect, but she’s okay.

But, wait – there’s more – we’re also discussing the book over at the Silicon Valley Moms Group blogs and — especially, if you haven’t read it yet — you’re more than welcome to join me there, too!

  • Love Thursday: That Cat Who Lived

Buck Beak (named after one of Hagrid’s many pets in the Harry Potter series) is 3 years old.  We nearly lost him, 6 months ago, due to a genetic disorder and (after spending 1 week in critical care) we couldn’t pay for the surgery that would, ultimately, save his life.

Until, the most awesome vet in the world stepped in and, taking stock in the pleas of his equally wonderful staff, offered to treat Bucky, pro bono!

Cats.  Some people simply can’t live without them and others don’t
understand the attraction.  Either way, pets can bring out the best (and
    worst) in their human counterparts.

    A very special cat, indeed!

    Happy Love Thursday, everyone!

  • Flip-Worthy Moments: If Kids Could Vote

In this month’s issue of Growing Pains – bet you didn’t know that I have a monthly column at the Imperfect Parent, huh? – I’m proudly acknowledging the fact that my parents are taking a ginormous leap of faith, by voting in their first presidential election, for the first time, in over 50 years!

But, if even that doesn’t move you to go and vote (seriously, my father swore he never would) my kids are more than willing to share a few reasons why they think, you know, you should.
