  • Teen-friendly Tapas: easy-peasy chicken and waffles recipe.

Chicken and Kellogg's Mini Eggo Waffles

A drizzle of warm honey and a sprinkling of fresh chives dress-up these chicken topped mini waffles, very nicely!

Last month, I was invited to meet with U.S. Olympic legends and athlete hopefuls representing Team USA in New York City to help kick-off the 100 day countdown to the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games.

I know, who EVER thought a dork like me would EVER be able to say that, out loud, RIGHT?!?

Aaaaaanyway, one of my favorite activities from this awesome event was participating in helping to create an absolutely awesome brunch, in my pretend kitchen at The Culinary Loft, where I was given the choice of cooking stations.

They had me at chicken and waffles, here’s how it ALL went down in 3 easy-peasy steps:

  • Happy Belated National Coffee Day: Will
    Vlog for Cawfee

    Liz's Cawfee #FoamAtHome

    {sponsored post & giveaway}

It’s no secret: I like coffee (A LOT!) and most of my friends (both online and IRL) know NOT to ask me ANYTHING, unless I’ve had my first cup of coffee (or cawfee, if you’re from Jersey).

Or if you happen to be one of my teens and are attempting to take full advantage of my total incoherency:  then, for the love of all things ending in macchiato, ASK AWAY…MY FRIEND!

There are worse things, don’t judge.

Aaaaanyway, In celebration of National Coffee Day (what, it was 9/29, did you miss it too?!?) I’ve partnered with my good friends at TheMotherhood.com and Gevalia and we’ve got some really cool stuff to share with ALL of my fellow coffee lovers, especially if you’ve ever started your day(s), like this:

  • Hard to Digest Moments: Watching movies
    with your teens.

Liz and Glen's Hard to Digest Moment

I am honored to be able to partner with Kellogg’s as a Champion of #GreatStarts blogger, with many thanks for their sponsoring this blog post and allowing me to share our stories with families (like mine) and (hopefully) help get each day off to a great start.

Have you seen the latest Kellogg’s commercials? How’d That Happen and Tweezers are part of the Rice Krispies “hard to digest” campaign, showcasing awkward moments between parents and kids.

When our little ones get smart enough to ask questions that we’re just so NOT ready to answer…yet…and, I’m sorry to say, the conversations don’t get ANY easier once your kids get older (whenever they actually decide to talk to you, I mean).

So, when my friends at Kellogg’s challenged me to capture our own version of a “hard to digest” moment and then encouraged me to create a humorous video about it…*snort*… it was like giving a kid the keys to a virtual candy store.

This time, I asked my 14 year-old son to help and he said yes (cue choir of angels, singing):

  • Our silly little Loopy Krispies Treat vlog or reason #2,934 why you probably won’t see me on the Food Network, anytime soon!

    Loopy Krispies Treat

Disclosure: As a Champion of #GreatStarts blogger, I am honored to partner with Kellogg’s in helping families (like mine) achieve great starts to their days. I am being compensated for my services for the length of the program.

The kids and I are having a slow week up here on Cape Cod — apparently, I am way too much fun for my teens to handle (shuddup!) they’ve been sleeping in since Sunday — so I was very happy when our friend Sue invited us to her house for dinner, last night.

    “Sounds great, we’ll bring dessert!”

We’re headed home on Friday, so I’m trying to (very, very slowly) clean out our vacation pantry.

“Ummmmmmmmm, who ate the last box of brownies?!?”

After vacationing a week and a half on the Cape, with 3 teens and a 12 year-old (same thing, really), the kids are doing a pretty good job of cleaning us out of food.

  • New York’s Finger Lakes: The Canandaigua Wine Trail

Eagle Crest Wine and newly constructed outdoor pizza oven!

I had the extreme pleasure of being invited by new friends at the Finger Lakes Visitors Connection in Ontario County, NY for a girlfriends weekend getaway and join them as guests of the Finger Lakes Foodie Awards.

We were treated to a wonderful foodie tour and met with some of the most amazing folks spearheading the farm to table (a.k.a. field to fork) food revolution.

Our 4-day visit was packed with SO MANY wonderful experiences, so I am very excited (and most eager) to share with you the fun things to see and do in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, including the mirepoix of good times:  wine, food and friends.

I’ve decided to create a series of blog posts to help us along in our journey — I don’t want you guys to miss a thing — so, I thought today maybe we could focus on wine…yes?!?
