  • Love Thursday: Smile, you’re on candid karma!

    Sugarhigh

This is a perfect example of why Mini-me was voted "Most Likely to Make You Smile" in our family!

I was taught, very early in life, that having children will perhaps be one of the most important things that I will ever accomplish in life.  Great.  Probably the reason why I dreaded it so and, though I happen to believe I’m a very good mom, is it enough to guarantee happiness?

  • Wordless Wednesday: When Did Easter Become the New Halloween?

    Eastercrack

Holy Hannah Montana – it’s a basket built for 4 – either the Easter Bunny’s getting really, really lazy, or they were running low on Easter supplies at ALL the bunny markets, or maybe a little of both…damnit!

  • So, You From Joisey?

    Rugratsatbeach

[This is an original New Jersey Moms Blog post – newest sister site to Silicon Valley Moms Blog – cross-posted here to This Full House and yes, I am VERY HAPPY to be their first contributing blogger!]

Contrary to what other people may have told you – especially, if you've ever watched the opening credits of The Sopranos – there are some very pretty places to visit here in New Jersey, if you're willing to travel beyond the toll booths outside of New York City and away from the factories lining both sides of the New Jersey Turnpike.

It's not called the Garden State for nothin,' you know.

  • Picture Perfect Thursday: We Break for Spring, Sort Of!

    Fullhousewinter07_2

How about a little more winter, to go with your first day of Spring?

I know, I know – a lot of my blogging friends were hit pretty hard, this year – but, the kids and I were talking late last night (because, I was still awake) and figured out we only had two days of snow.  When it actually, you know, stuck to the ground.  Also, with only one snow day off, that…YES!…they would probably get out of school early, this year.

Sort of makes having only a 3-day spring break seem that much more…STUPID!

  • Wordless Wednesday: Better Late Than Never

    Basketballclose_3

So, Thing Two says, "Gosh, but it was windy today and good thing you remembered to move the basketball net, like Daddy asked you!"

    Basketballcloser_2

Then, I say, "OH SNAP…I didn’t…but, good thing I can move the car, before Daddy gets home, and forget that this eeeeeeeh-vuh happened…that is…if YOU know what’s good for you!"

    Thank you.

  • Foodie Tuesday: Lemon Parsnipity Chicken

    Lemony_parsnipity_chicken

I have this friend – YES, she knows I’m a Dork – who takes it upon herself to remind my
children, to remind me, not to forget…you know…things I just don’t remember, anymore.  Like, the days when they should NOT be going to school…like, Thursday…and Friday…Monday, too…I think.  Well, because there isn’t
any school, and they’d be the ONLY ones there and other
    stuff, like that.

So, where am I going with this…um…give me a moment…oh, yeah…I’m joining another friend Christina of A Mommy Story in getting healthy before my trip to BlogHerConSanFran, in July.

Or, as Christina so valiantly refers to it as, "Hot By BlogHer."

Alas, my "hawt" days are numbered — the kids saw to that years ago and never-you-mind-just-how-old-I-am, anyways — but, that doesn’t mean I can’t feel good about the way I look.  Right?

    Riiiiiight.

So, I’ve committed myself to walking the Doofus-dog (twice a day) and actually using the gift certificates, that my favorite sister-in-law gave me at Christmas, to join the pilates class at her gym

Every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. – pray for me – and please, do NOT make me the first one to HAVE to, you know, pass gas!

Oh, and before I forget, I’ve been tapping into my cooking roots and coming up with some pretty neat and simple recipes that even the kids like.  So, I thought perhaps I should start writing them down and…HEY!…why not share them with you?  Every Tuesday.  So, I don’t forget.

Please excuse the Rachel Ray-ish type measuring of ingredients.

Today’s recipe – Lemon Parsnipity Chicken:

  • Monday Morning Mommy Hangover

No, I am NOT a morning person but, as long as there’s a cup of coffee handed to me
within the first few minutes of entering the bathroom with the morning
    paper…I’m good.

Once I finally do regain the power of speech — typically, this
happens soon after taking a very hot shower — and after ridding
myself of stray facial hair and morning nose…I’m better.

    Then, the kids wake up.

This is about the time when — after careful consideration of the
vast amount of demands that will undoubtedly be put upon me physically,
mentally and/or emotionally that hasn’t already been compromised from
the weekend before — I seriously think about petitioning for a:

"National Go Back To Bed Day!"

Instead, I’m taking Her Bad Mother’s Dare of Truthiness and revealing my true, unmade-up self to the world…on my blog…and, in the words of my 12-year-old  daughter:

    "EEP!"

Go ahead…click on that annoying "continue reading" thingy…I DARE YOU!

  • Red, White and Blue Friday #7 – You’re a grand old complex and contentious flag!

    Fullhouseflaginwinter

There’s a company that manufactures American flags not too far from us – in fact, it is the landmark right before the exit lane I should be taking towards the beach – and it’s sort of hard to miss the eleventy-hundred flags flapping in the breeze.

Perhaps some people would find it difficult to see the patriotism in that – especially, since the company makes flags – but, I know that it would be hard to deny that the company is probably just following through with some pretty heavy duty advertisement.

What would you say if I told you that NOT all American flags are made, you know, in America?
