WAIT – before you click over to City Mama’s place to try and win a Nintendo Wii – STOP! Because, if you’ve already read my most embarrassing post (to date) then, you know I work hard at keeping my Queen of the Dorks persona intact AND that piece of ass-kicking hardware is SO mine!

Long story short (you’re welcome!) giving birth and raising 4 kids hasn’t been kind to my body. In fact, it’s really beginning to show…EVERYWHERE…but, most especially from the neck up.

Mini-me (she’s my youngest) took this picture of me a couple of weeks ago – around the time my mom and dad started tag-teaming their way in (and out) of the hospital – and DAYUM! Look at all that eye baggage…man-oh-man…don’t even get me started on my obvious need of some serious hairpy!
What the hell happened?
[shrugs shoulders]
I just really, really, really let myself go (I guess) but, this goes far beyond my physical being. The smile doesn’t go all the way up to my eyes, anymore.
[cringe]
Even I don’t recognize that person, anymore. So, I woke up this morning (thank you Jesus) and decided it was time for a change.
I am calling me out. You know, that happy-go-lucky person and fun-loving mom I used to be. I know she’s there, somewhere. And, if I concentrate really, really, really hard, I bet I can find her.
But, where to start?
According to Gail Blanke – she’s a columnist for Real Simple and a motivational speaker I had the pleasure of lunching with at the BlogHer conference, last year – these life assessment sort of things just don’t happen overnight; or, do they?
It’s like she says in her blog, "Today is the day to step forward!"
So, I walked into a new hair place (without an appointment) waited for the first hairdresser available (who, I’d never met before) and plunked myself down into her chair and had her cut two years out of my head, literally!

I know what you’re thinking – no, really – after all that, this post is really ONLY about your hair!?!?

No, but it’s a start.
I know it’s a small change, but I’m turning 44 (next week) and my head is sort of already feeling a little…I dunno…lighter.
So, I sent the pic to my husband, Garth (not his real name) with a quick text.
"Meet the new me!"
Aaaaaand got a pretty quick response.
"When can I have her?"
Yep!
[takes a deep breath]
Change is good – even if I don’t win the Wii – but, a new hairdo is GREAT for the libido
[flips head from side-to-side]
