Remember when I told you about how excited I am to have been invited to this really cool thing in Hollywood (yeah, like, in 3,000 bazillion miles away from Jersey) and then the little black dress that my dear sweet husband ordered me didn’t fit (stupid breasts, dumb leftover baby bumps!) but, then I found an even prettier dress that actually fit "a real woman" with, you know, bumps and boobs, for under $100 and one that even a plain-old Jersey mom (like
me) could wear to a swanky-like Hollywood event and STILL feel pretty!?!?
[takes deep breath]
Well, I’m leaving in about 12 hours…of course, I’m still NOT packed…oh, and HOLY CRAP!…I don’t remember being THIS nervous (or, sad) about going to BlogHer!
[exhales]
Then again, I had Shannon (a.k.a. Believer in Balance) to hold my hand and share emergency escape routes with, who is now expecting baby #4, just so you know.
[big toothy grin)
Aaaand, then I had the pleasure of hanging with some awesome women, while kidnapping a Macy’s employee in return for some freakin’ ice cream oh and Donna (a.k.a. SoCal Mom) showed me San Francisco (yes, ALL OF IT, and the blisters on my feet are STILL healing, DAMMIT!)and
then linked up with everyone I ever bumped into, stepped on, or didn’t
see coming around the corner and then nearly puked on…because, OMG,
it’s YOU!…oh, and did I mention, I am A DORK!
[takes another deep breath]
But, this time it will be different.
[exhales and nearly chokes]
Because, it’s just me. Liz, from Jersey. A mom with 4 kids, who has this silly little thing called a blog, wearing a little black dress (bought on credit) and 3 inch heels (scored on clearance) both of which will all of sudden look HUGE, when I land.
What was I thinking?
Our house is a mess – the roof has a leak, the lawn mower (my precious) won’t start (I think
the drive shaft is borked) the dryer is on the fritz, again (stupid
Sears!) I cashed out my IRA (we have a total of $2 in our checking
account) my husband, Garth(not his real name) is NOT sure who he’s
working for at the moment, or if he’ll have a job when he gets back
from taking care of ALL 4 kids, alone (someone has to) 2 of whom are
going to bed sick with fevers, tonight.
[takes a deep breath]
Of course I’m going (thank you, Suave) even though, I probably really
shouldn’t (mommy guilt kills) besides, even us Dorks need to represent
and you can’t get any more freakin’ real than that, DAMMIT
[still waiting to exhale]
I hope I don’t puke on Scribbit’s new shoes!
[exhale]
