Picture Perfect Thursday: We Break for Spring, Sort Of!

Fullhousewinter07_2

How about a little more winter, to go with your first day of Spring?

I know, I know – a lot of my blogging friends were hit pretty hard, this year – but, the kids and I were talking late last night (because, I was still awake) and figured out we only had two days of snow.  When it actually, you know, stuck to the ground.  Also, with only one snow day off, that…YES!…they would probably get out of school early, this year.

Sort of makes having only a 3-day spring break seem that much more…STUPID!

It starts today.  They’re back to school on Tuesday.  Then, have Monday and Tuesday off next month, sometime around Passover, I think.

Good thing we can’t afford to, you know, go anywhere.

Still, it would have been nice to get together with Kate, or perhaps visit with a couple of other family friends, who have a whole week to themselves.

They’re probably not home and treating their children to a wonderfully fun-filled family vacation away, somewhere else, anyway.

Yes, I know my kids work very hard, in school – just as much as I
know my husband would really, really like to go and get somewhere, on
time – but, the thought of NOT having to get up in a frenzy or rush
out, for once, can make becoming a homebody seem really irresistible
and quite intoxicating, actually.

But, not for long.

[sniff]

"And…um…when did you guys take a shower, last?"

[blank stares]

Truth be told, they learned that one from their Momma – so, hold
your nose and pretend like you don’t see the killer dust bunnies –
because I’m going to try really, really hard not to clean and spend the
rest of the week, you know, chilling with the kids during their spring
break!

"Honey, when was the last time anyone saw the vacuum and where in hell is the soap!?!?"

Looks like the kids and I will have to re-educate my poor husband
in the fine art of relaxation, as he tries to get ready for work in peace and, you know, learns to adjust.

Happy Easter (early) and feel free to visit with me and the kids (Thing Two has a hilarious post up, today) and please remember to bring some cookies.  After all, I am a stay-at-home-mom and heaven knows I could always use a few extra pounds, too.

Have a great weekend, folks – or, as my kids would say – peace out…we outta here!

Only a three day spring break? Wow. That seems so short. Granted, the schools around here only have this week off. It’s like Spring Break/Easter Break all rolled into one.
Looking at that snow, I shiver. I’m so anxious for ours to melt.

I don’t believe I’ll ever understand the why’s on school calendars. The kids had Spring Break last week and then get the day off tomorrow. It just seems like a waste of a week. Enjoy your time off. I know I will.

My kids are too young for school, but I remember loving Spring Break. But the more blogs I read that talk about it, the more I realize it’s just a break to torture moms.
BTW…thanks for your visit to my blog party post, I’m finally getting around to returning the favor. 🙂

My kids have a week off in February and a week (actually 8 days) off for Easter. I wish they would eliminate these cold breaks and just let us out 2 weeks earlier for summer vacation. Makes no sense to me.

Spring break is really a misnomer. Maybe they should call it snow break because that is what we have every year here in Colorado!
And drop me a note re: your stumble this, dig this, etc. I am trying to figure out what the heck they do!!!???
